Abstract

The evaluation of improved grasslands and their impact on livestock farming in the Ecuadorian Amazon is a multidimensional issue that addresses the interaction between livestock production, environmental conservation and the well-being of local communities. The methodology used to develop this study was qualitative using an inductive technique, thus a bibliographic review was developed with material acquired from accredited sources, including, among others, Latindex, Springer, Scielo, Google Scholar, Redalyc, university theses and others. Investigation work. As results, it was possible to obtain that in the Amazon there are 383,025 hectares of cultivated pastures, and 391,164 hectares of natural pastures, likewise, in the lower Amazon there are forage species of legumes (40%), on the other hand it is estimated that in the Amazon region there are 523,219 heads of cattle, however, the limited Amazonían agricultural potential means that this region has a production of 5.3 liters of milk per cow. However, there are improved pasture species that can improve this production due to their fiber content, protein, etc., among them are Setonia splendida and Panicum maximun with high fiber content, while Brachiaria brizhanta and Pennisetum oupureum have high forage production and Stylosanthes guianensis has higher protein production.
