Sustainable agriculture systems are innovative and sustainable approaches to land management that include the incorporation of trees, crops and/or animals within a single production unit. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the sustainability of an agroecological production system from the perspective of ancestral knowledge, considering the agroecological and biological production systems that help the local system. The methodology was cross-sectional observational and descriptive in scope with a mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative), a sustainability analysis was carried out evaluating 11 indicators encompassing environmental, social and economic factors. The results indicated that the farm where the study was carried out has a high value of 5 in terms of access to water, water quality and food self-sufficiency due to the climatic conditions of the city of Puyo, on the contrary, the lowest indicator was the level of citizen participation. In conclusion, the evaluated agroecological system has a level of sustainability considered moderate to good; work should be done on the points of lower value so that sustainability can be significantly increased.
