Poposal for a Radio Novel on the subject of Sex Education in the Mons. Alberto Zambrano Palacios Educational Unit, in the city of Puyo, Pastaza Province

The purpose of this work was to generate a radio soap opera proposal on sexuality issues in the educational unit “Monseñor Alberto Zambrano Palacios”, identifying students from 8th grade of basic education to 3rd grade of unified general high school as the object of study. The methodology used was mixed, combining quantitative and qualitative methods to obtain a more complete understanding, thus facilitating the development of a more informed, relevant and effective educational radio soap opera proposal. The survey results revealed that 64,3 % of respondents considered a radio soap opera to be a good medium for learning about sex education, while 32,1 % are unsure about the effectiveness of this format. In addition, it was identified that 58,3 % of students want the risks and consequences of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) to be addressed, and 44 % consider it crucial to deal with issues of consent and respect in relationships. Interviews with teachers revealed the need for support from external professionals such as doctors and psychologists. Although texts from the Ministry of Education were available, teachers stated that they had not received adequate training and needed more attractive and accessible materials to better capture the students' attention. With these results, the need to generate, through the radio soap opera, content with dynamic information, according to the age of the young students, was ratified.
