This study addresses, through a systematic analysis, the issue of limited compliance with the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria in community-based tourism centers registered in Riobamba canton, identifying management gaps that affect their competitiveness and contribution to sustainable territorial development. The objective was to determine the relationship between the implementation of Good Practices and the strengthening of Sustainable Tourism. A mixed-method approach was applied, with a non-experimental, correlational, and cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of stakeholders involved in community tourism, with a sample of 30 participants selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. Data were collected through a structured survey using a Likert scale and analyzed using inferential statistics for hypothesis testing. The results revealed a significant relationship between the implementation of Good Practices and compliance with the environmental, sociocultural, and economic dimensions of sustainability. It is concluded that the limited adoption of sustainability indicators restricts the strengthening of community tourism. The study recommends the implementation of continuous training, monitoring, and improvement programs. Furthermore, it provides a replicable methodology for community-based destinations aligned.
